State invites bids for expansion of Nairobi-Mombasa highway

Tanzania: Aircrafts Triple At Newly Renovated Dodoma Airport

 Dodoma — Aircrafts landing daily at Dodoma Airport have tripled to nine from the normal three following completion of expansion works on the runway, Airport Manager Mr Julius Mlungwa has said.   He said the completion of the works early this month has allowed more flights to land at the semi-arid region and the country's designated capital, lowering airfare to passengers. OPIC and Bechtel Move Forward in Developing Nairobi-Mombasa Expressway Project

Suzuki Vitara gets second AT option in South Africa

 Suzuki Auto South Africa has introduced an automatic option for the Suzuki Vitara SUV. It is based on the 2WD GL+ variant and priced at ZAR 313,900. This is the second variant in the Vitara range to offer an AT option, which was previously exclusive to the top-end GLX.   The Vitara is powered by a 1.6L four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 120 hp and 156 Nm of torque. Ethiopia: Over 1.3 Billion Birr Raised for GERD Construction

Digitising taxes in Tanzania could provide $0.5bn annual boost

 Digitising taxes in Tanzania could boost the country’s revenues by half a billion dollars every year, according to a United Nations report.   The report, published yesterday by the UN-based Better Than Cash Alliance, found that by digitising value added tax and supporting the formalisation of businesses, Tanzania could collect an additional $477m annually.   This would be a substantial windfall for a country with a GDP of around $47bn, and a tax to GDP ratio....
