A Danish Company to Invest Sh1.3 Billion in the Solar Equipment Market in Africa.

The company has contributed $3.2 million (Sh413.4 million) since 2022 to extend safe water access programs throughout Africa, and this builds on that investment.

In the medium-to-long term, the company, which creates reasonably priced, solar-powered water filtration systems for marginalized and disadvantaged populations, hopes to raise up to $10 million (Sh1.3 billion).

The company's long-term commitment to Africa as a key operating base will be strengthened by the investment, which will be spearheaded from its Nairobi office.

At a high-profile event held at the Danish Ambassador's residence in Nairobi, this milestone was revealed. Business executives, legislators, and development partners convened to talk about cooperative solutions for safe drinking water.

The investment is made at a time when 41% of Kenyans still struggle to obtain clean water, and over two billion people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water.

With its cutting-edge SaWa technology, a solar-powered water purification system that has been approved by the World Health Organization to remove 99.99 percent of viruses from contaminated water, 4Life Solutions seeks to bridge this gap.

"We are standing at a pivotal point," stated Annemette Faerch, 4Life Solutions' chairperson.

“We have relocated the great majority of our operations to Kenya during the past two years, establishing a 25-person office and a warehouse and laboratory at the Nairobi Gate Industrial Park. This investment demonstrates our faith in Africa's potential and our dedication to making access to clean drinking water a basic human right rather than a luxury.”

"For us, having access to clean drinking water is about more than just health; it's about gender equality, economic empowerment, and education," Faerch continued.

The investment emphasizes how important collaborations are to resolving Africa's water crisis.

To speed up adoption, 4Life Solutions is in talks with the federal government, non-governmental organizations, and private investors in addition to having previously inked memorandums of understanding with a number of county governments.

Peer-to-peer sales in collaboration with Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organization (MYWO) is one of its most effective programs. So far, it has enabled women to sell SaWa Cans to 8,000 homes, generating up to Sh300 each sale while providing their communities with clean drinking water.

Stories like these serve as a reminder of the importance of our work, said Caroline Githinji, managing director of Africa. “Collaboration is the foundation of our work. Without the strong relationships we have developed with NGOs, community health networks, and social entrepreneurs, we would not have been able to reach more than 390,000 families throughout Africa.”

Through its Africa's Century Strategy, Danish Ambassador Stephan Schonemann reiterated Denmark's longstanding commitment to the continent's development.

“Denmark's vision for Africa, where industry, research, and development collaborate to produce sustainable solutions, is exactly in line with this investment. Life depends on water, and 4Life Solutions is demonstrating that innovation can bring about significant change,” Schønemann concluded.
