Nine Energy Transmission Projects worth US$4bn Identified in Southern Africa

Nine energy transmission projects valued at above US$4bn have been identified in the Southern Africa region for promotion and marketing. These nine projects are in different stages of development according to the report released in the 34th Summit of SADC in Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe. Arab Contractors to implement $27m new road projects in Egypt

 Arab Contractors Company (AC), a leading construction firm has been awarded a tender worth $27M to implement construction of 400km roads stretch in Egypt. In a statement sent to the media by Arab Contractors Company (AC) and signed by the board of Directors Eng. Kenya: One Million Kenyans to Be Connected to Power This Year

 Nairobi — The Government has said that one million people will be connected to the national power grid by the end of this financial year in its plan to connect over 70 percent of the population by 2017.     In the last financial year, over 400,000 customers were connected to the power line. City Lodge to construct a $23m 3-star hotel Nairobi, Kenya

City Lodge Hotel Group has made plans to set up a US $23m 3-star hotel in Kenya at the Runda Estate. Construction works are expected to start in January 2015 and is to be ready by October 2016.   This will be the first time the Group is developing a green-field hotel in East Africa. Japanese Government to fund an irrigation scheme in Rwanda

The Governmnet of Rwanda has received a US$15m grant from the Japanese Government to fund an irrigation scheme in Ngoma District, Rwanda, which will be implemented by the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA).   The funds will be used for the construction of dams, 900,000 meter cubes water reservoir, regulating tanks, irrigation canals, bridges, and a solar power unit. Construction of the Standard Gauge Railway in Kenya

87 construction teams have arrived in Kenya from China to ensure the construction of the Standard Gauge railway in Kenya begins September this year. Alten to develop 40MW solar plant in Kenya

Alten Kenya Solarfarms is expected to set up a 40MW solar plant in Kesses, Uasin Gishu county Kenya. The solar plant will be located on a 371 acre piece of land in Kesses near Moi University, Eldoret. The project is expected to cost around US$10m for infrastructure development alone.
