A new landfill will soon be built in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. According to the Water and Sanitation Corporation (WASAC), construction of the site will start in June 2023. The landfill will be located in the Nduba sector, but on a different site from the landfill in operation since year 2012.

Two more United Arab Emirates companies have made in-roads into Tanzania, following President Samia Suluhu’s trip to the Gulf country last year to seek business.

According to a ranking released by the Spanish consulting company Bloom Consulting, Kenya is the seventh most appealing African nation for trade.

Tanzania’s government gave its approval on Tuesday for the construction of a $3.5 billion crude oil pipeline despite human rights and environmental concerns about the mega-project.
The 1,443-kilometre (900-mile) pipeline will transport crude from vast oilfields being developed in Lake Albert in north-western Uganda to a Tanzanian port on the Indian Ocean for delivery to international markets.

Kenya is exploring the feasibility of constructing a gas pipeline linking Tanzania’s major coastal city of Dar es Salaam to Kenya’s coastal city of Mombasa and later extending it to Nairobi, Kenya’s capital, Africanews reported in October 2022.
According to Kenya’s new president Dr. William Ruto, the prospective 600km pipeline, estimated to cost $1.1 billion, would help reduce the country’s soaring energy costs.

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) is the latest heavy power consumer to embrace the shift towards renewable energy after it rolled out plans to commission a new solar plant, as part of the green strategy at the Mombasa port.
