Zimbabwe: U.S.$100 Million Mining Loan To Be Finalized by Govt

GOVERNMENT is working with China to finalise the guarantee needed for the $100 million loan meant for the small scale gold sector, Deputy Minister of Mines and Mining Development Fred Moyo has said. "It has been very slow," said Mr Moyo. "Government is guaranteeing so many transactions as such it has been difficult to come up with another option as we are not easily bankable."

Tanzania: ACT Looking for More Investments in Agriculture Sector

Agricultural Council of Tanzania (ACT) has advised the government to tout more investors in the agricultural sector in order to bring social and economic developments for the nation.

Nigeria: Shell Increases Gas Production in Eastern Niger Delta

Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) Joint Venture has announced that more gas is being produced from Agbada field in the Eastern Niger Delta in support of federal government's aspiration of increasing domestic gas production for manufacturing and power generation.

Uranium Production in Namibia to Triple in 2017

NAMIBIA'S uranium production is expected to be three times the volume produced in 2015, according to statistics issued by finance minister Calle Schlettwein in parliament recently.

Zimbabwe: Mining Co. Set to Increase Gold Production

Redwing mine, a subsidiary of South Africa-based Metallon Gold is set to increase gold production after resuming operations following a de-flooding exercise, management has revealed.

 
Redwing mine stopped operations in 2008 after Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) cut power supplies over payment issues. The move contributed to massive flooding of shafts as the mine could not pump the water underground.

Kenya: Corporation Signs Sh50 Billion Deals With Local Suppliers for Railway Construction

China Road and Bridge Corporation has since inception signed contracts worth Sh50 billion with local suppliers for the construction of the standard gauge railway.

Rwanda: RCA to Construct New Cricket Ground

Rwanda Cricket Association (RCA) and the Ministry of Sports and Culture have partnered to construct a new cricket ground at the University of Rwanda- College of education (UR-CE), Rukara Campus in Kayonza district, Eastern Province.

Govt. to Set Up Hotel Fund in Bid to Boost Tourism Revenue in Kenya

Kenya's Tourism Ministry plans to set up a hotel refurbishment fund as part of plans to boost tourism revenues. Efforts are also being intensified to attract more charter flights.
