Ethiopia cements economic ties with Turkey with $13.5 million salt manufacturing plant

 An Ethiopian- Turkish deal that mulled creation of a salt manufacturing industry has come to fruition with the establishment of a $13.5 million plant covering 50,000 square meters at the Afar regional state in Northern Ethiopia.

 
Currently, the manufacturing company has the capacity to create more than 300 job opportunities. This figure will reach 8,000 when the company becomes operational at its full capacity.

Ethiopia: East Africa Metals Requests Gold Mining License

 East African Metals, a Canadian mine development company with an interest in exploration projects, has requested a license from the Ministry of Mines, Petroleum & Natural Gas, to start the large scale extraction of gold and silver in Ethiopia.

 
The company has submitted its application to produce the minerals, in Tigray regional state, Terakimti locality.

Tanzania: Netherlands Reaffirms Food Security Support to Dar

 The Netherlands has affirmed that it would continue focusing on providing Tanzania with knowledge and skills on priority sector of agriculture and food security in helping the country's transformation.

Kenya is set to train Liberian health workers in specialized health services

 Kenya will offer training opportunities in specialized health services to Liberia, Health Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Cleopa Mailu has said.

Tanzania Purchase 2 Bombardier Q400 Aircraft

The Government of Tanzania recently signed a purchase agreement for two Q400 aircrafts with Canadian manufacturer Bombardier.
 
The aircrafts will be delivered with a 76-seat configuration at the price of USD62m.
 
They will be used for commercial airline operations by Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL), the national carrier of Tanzania.

President Uhuru Kenyatta asks landowners to support infrastructural projects

President Uhuru Kenyatta has asked those with land through which infrastructural projects are passing through to surrender it. Otherwise, the President said the government will forcibly seize it.

National Oil and GDC sign agreement to jointly off er oil, gas drilling services

Geothermal Development Company and National Oil Corporation of Kenya will jointly offer oil and gas drilling services in Kenya and the region. The two state-owned firms have signed a deal to provide the services by leveraging on their individual and collective technical expertise. In the memorandum of understanding, GDC will give NOCK equipment and provide specialised drilling services.

Kenya to export oil earlier than planned by two years

 The government has brought forward the country’s oil production deadline by two years, a move that could see Kenya become a net exporter earlier than 2022.
