Tanzania: Sh74 Million Dam to Provide Villagers with Year-Round Water

Tarime — Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) has handed over a water dam built at Gibaso and Karakatonga villages in Tarime District. TANAPA Outreach Programme Manager Ahmed Mbugi handed over the project on Wednesday. Tanzania: Construction of Man Made Lake at Ngorongoro Takes Off

Arusha — In response to Prime Minister, Kassim Majaliwa's directives, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority has kicked off a project to build a large enclosed, man-made lake, to provide water for the Maasai and their cattle in the precinct.   The large water trough, whose construction work was officially inaugurated by the Ngorongoro District Commissioner, Mr Rashid Taka, is meant to ensure constant, regular and reliable water to all the livestock in the Ngorongoro.... Tanzania: Mtwara Airport to Undergo Expansion

East Africa: EAC Looking to Assemble Vehicles Locally, Imports to be Hit Hard

A strategy to promote local assembling of vehicles in East African countries may see Uganda lose heavily in customs duties collected daily.   According to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) statistics every day Uganda imports about 100 vehicles from countries such as Japan, Germany, UK and United Arab Emirates.   The records mean every month URA collects between Shs28 billion and Shs35 billion worth of taxes from car imports alone. Tanzania: China Commends Portuguese, Turkish Firms on SGR Contract

Africa's Urban Population to Reach 1 Billion by 2040 - World Bank Report
