Ethiopia has unveiled a locally-assembled electric car from Marathon Motor, a joint venture between Korean auto giant Hyundai and Olympic champion Haile Gebrselassie.
Mr Haile delivered the vehicle to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

Isuzu East Africa has declared its return to the Tanzanian market after three years. In the event, it also disclosed its local distributor. The automotive assembler said in a statement that the return aimed at expanding its footprint in the region.
The global automotive firm appointed a subsidiary of the Egyptian firm Al Mansour Auto EA (Tanzania) Ltd - a globally esteemed company - as its authorised distributor in the region with effect from July 1, 2020.

The Government of Kenya, through the state-owned Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), is planning to undertake a USD 99.89 million Kiambu to Thika road upgrade project, which will see an upgrade of 62 kilometers of road connecting Kiambu Road and Thika Highway at B30 / A2. Kenya's national government is expected to begin reconstruction of the old / metre-gauge railway line from Nakuru to Kisumu this month through national railway cooperation (Kenya Railways Corporation).

Kenya's nuclear agency submitted impact studies for a $5 billion power plant and reported that it's on course to construct and start operating the facility in about 7 years. By 2030, the country is scheduled to have installed 4 GW of nuclear energy, which will enable it to generate 19 % of its energy consumption tally.

The Ethiopian government signed a loan agreement of Euro 117.3 million with Danske Bank A/S to fund the Assela Wind Farm project.
The agreement was signed by Ethiopia's Minister of Finance and Mr. Jelsper B. Petterson and Olaf S. Mark Schet, Director and Associate Director of Danske Bank A/S, respectively. The agreement was signed virtually.

Ethiopia has recently signed a power purchase agreement worth $800 million with the developers of a 150 MW geothermal plant.
The Horn-of-Africa nation, which is also the second most populated on the continent, has the second biggest electricity deficit in Africa according to the World Bank, with about two thirds of the population requiring a connection to the grid.

A recycling plant in Tanzania has started making and selling plastic face masks during the COVID-19 pandemic. The plant used to process and export waste paper to customers in China and India.
In recent weeks the business has made 6,000 units that sell for around two dollars each.

The local fashion industry has turned upcycled waste materials into garments as a way to use plastic for good. Among the items is a trench coat created by VIVIERS Studio, made up of disposable sterilisation medical fabric that was previously used in hospital theatres as sheets or packaging of used apparatus.
