SamZim opens new production facility in Harare

 SamZim, the Zimbabwean partner of South Korean electronics major Samsung, has opened a new manufacturing, sales and service outlet in Harare samsung manilaimperialmotorsales Samsung will manufacture television sets, in addition to opening a digital village in Harare. 

In addition to the production unit, an engineering academy has also been set up on the Zimpost Complex.
The unit is expected to manufacture and distribute Samsung products, as it is a licenced producer. Assembly of television sets ranging from 32 inches to 55 inches will be carried out.
“Semi knock-down kits are currently being assembled for television sets. This is just the initial stage of the project and we are looking at using local content in the assembly. The local industries must be able to meet the Samsung standards in order to supply. So far, we have identified potential local companies, one that is engaged in an injecting molding and another that does plastic manufacturing,” explained SamZim director Milton Macheka.
SamZim will assist local companies that are keen to supply equipment to get credit lines.
The Samsung Engineering Academy will also be launched in addition to a digital village that will comprise a solar-powered Internet school, tele-medical centre, solar-powered generator and a basic home lighting solution for children. In association with the Harare Institute of Technology (HIT), 100 students will be enlisted for the programme. Following the completion of the course, the students will receive an internationally-accredited Samsung certificate
