The government of Kenya has started a US$47mn facility under the Kenya-Off-Grid Solar Access Project (KOSAP) to provide viable solar and clean cooking solutions to 1.1mn people in the 14 marginalised counties of West Pokot, Turkana, Marsabit, Samburu, Isiolo, Mandera, Wajir, Garrisa, Tana River, Lamu, Kilifi, Kwale, Taita Taveta and Narok

Unilever Tea Kenya and CrossBoundary Energy have authorized a 619 kWp solar plant at the company’s Kericho tea factory. This is the first on-site solar installation for a Unilever facility in Sub-Saharan Africa, and it brings the company near to its target of sourcing 100% of total energy from renewables by 2030.
