Dow Chemical seeks to triple Africa revenue in five years

Dow Chemical Co plans to triple its revenue from sub-Saharan Africa in the next five years and is investing in offices, local staff and manufacturing plants on the continent to meet that target, its head of the region said. Kenya: Firms to Sell Green 20MW to Kenya Power

Nairobi — Kenya Power has signed power purchase agreements with four local generators for the uptake of 20.8MW additional power capacity from renewable energy sources.   Signed in 20-year arrangements under feed-in tariff policy that aims at encouraging investments in renewable energy projects, the power utility will draw the extra capacity from biomass, solar, mini-hydro and windmicro-plants located in Kwale, Nairobi, Kajiado and Meru.   In the agreements, Kwale.... Kenya: County Government Urged to Control Small-Scale Mining

An environmentalist in Gatundu wants the government to put in place stringent measures to control small-scale mining with a view to curb environmental degradation in Kiambu County. The director of Gatundu Data Link Initiative William Kimotho said haphazard mineral exploitation was an “environmental time bomb” to the region. Kenya: Ormat Teams With Toshiba in Geothermal Energy

Israeli energy firm Ormat Technologies has teamed up with Japan's Toshiba Corporation to source and implement joint geothermal contracts.   The first project expected to be implemented under the deal signed Friday is Nakuru's Menengai Crater to be constructed and operated by the Ormat - Symbion Power LLC - Civicon consortium.   Ormat, which represents Toshiba in the Kenyan venture, said in a press statement that negotiations on the supply agreement and the plant design.... Nigeria: France Grants U.S.$170 Million for Improved Power Supply in FCT

Zimbabwe: Headway in U.S.$3 Billion Platinum Project

Operations At Hwange Chaba Mine Resume

Ethiopia: Strengthening Extension Services to Modernize Smallholder Farming

Rosatom announces plans to construct reactors in nuclear plant in Africa

Mega Fertilizer Plant to come up in Africa

 HOMAG International Merchant is set to construct a mega fertilizer plant in Nigeria worth $1.2 billion in Kogi State.   The firm representative Adedayo Adeogi said that they will work hand in hand with the Kogi government to ensure that the project get completed on time. US firm now eyes construction market in Kenya

 The construction market in Kenya is set for  cutthroat competition after X-Calibur Construction Chemistry Inc., a US-based construction products manufacturer said that it was constructing a concrete and cement additive manufacturing plant in Kenya aiming to tap on the wider  East African region.   The firm said that it would open a manufacturing plant in Nairobi late next year in a move to ease distribution of its products across the East African....
