Genesis Energy Group, a company that develops energy infrastructure and manages assets, teamed up with the Imbumba Foundation to make a generous donation of Namene solar lights to illuminate the climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania on July 18.

The Imbumba Foundation established the yearly journey, and the Nelson Mandela Foundation supported it. It exemplifies the core elements of Mandela's vision for Africa, including its solidarity, resiliency, and desire of a brighter future.

To help with the track journey, Genesis Energy Group provided boxes of Namene SM200 solar lights. Additionally, this not only provided the team with essential lighting but also promoted clean energy and sustainability.

Head of Sales and Partnerships at Namene, Ian Mills, stated:

“Namene believes in business as a force for good, and we’re proud to see Genesis Energy Group put this into action through their support of this charitable cause. We know firsthand the life-changing impacts that clean technology has on communities without access to electricity. So we’re delighted to support Genesis Energy Group in their Corporate Social Responsibility strategy as they strive to support communities with innovative energy solutions.”

"I was immediately impressed by the potential and impact of the solar lights," said Babalwa Bungane, Head of Communications and Marketing at Genesis Energy Group.Since Namene's mission closely reflects the ideals and guiding concepts of power, people and growth held by Genesis Energy Group, we are delighted to have purchased the solar lights from them. The lights are extremely durable and practical and can be worn on the trekkers' heads with the head strap, making them ideal for the Trek4Mandela. They are also powered by the sun.

250 solar lights were purchased from Namene by Genesis Energy Group. Many of which were given to the trekkers, who finished their ascent of Africa's tallest peak, which rises to a height of 5,895 metres, in four days.  The descent took them an additional two days.

The Imbumba Foundation and Genesis Energy Group will provide local communities with projects using the remaining 200 lights. They will produce beneficial environmental and social impact with the aid of key partners.
