Muthomi Njuki, the governor of Tharaka Nithi, has unveiled a number of ground-breaking initiatives in sports, healthcare and youth development with the goal of enhancing livelihoods and increasing possibilities for County inhabitants.

Speaking at the official ending ceremony of the county's two-day cultural festival at Mugona Grounds in Maara Constituency, Deputy Governor Njuki stated that his administration is still dedicated to making sure all citizens have access to basic services.

Highlighting the need to deliver high-quality healthcare services closer to the people, the governor announced intentions to renovate Muthambi Hospital to a Level Four institution.

He pointed out that a well-equipped institution in Muthambi is necessary because many locals now travel quite a distance to receive medical care at Magutuni Level Four Hospital.

In order to improve local healthcare provision, the proposed hospital will have a maternity wing, a state-of-the-art theater and other essential medical facilities.

Njuki went on to say that the county government had already set aside money to build an outpatient treatment block, which would be the first stage of the hospital's growth.

The governor announced that the county government has joined with the Safaricom Foundation to implement a Sh54 million Mother-to-Child Health Project at Muthambi Hospital, which will significantly improve maternal and child healthcare.

Additionally, he stated that Safaricom has funded other healthcare developments in the county as well, such as those at the medical facilities in Mpukoni and Gatunga.

According to Njuki, the initiatives demonstrate his administration's dedication to funding sports development, youth empowerment, and healthcare as major forces behind Tharaka Nithi County's socioeconomic turnaround.

The remarks were made as hundreds of locals gathered to commemorate the end of the cultural festival, which honored the county's rich history and gave politicians a forum to discuss development objectives.
