Solar energy solutions provider Aora has announced that its plans to construct an initial pilot of its Tulip solar-hybrid power plant in Ethiopia
Aora’s Tulip solar-hybrid system uses a gas turbine that can operate on any alternative fuel, which guarantees an uninterrupted and stable power supply 24 hours a day in all weather conditions.
Construction of the first pilot plant is expected to begin by mid-2015.
Company officials said that the project is tied to Ethiopia’s Climate-Resilient Green Economy Strategy, in which the country aims to enhance access to affordable and environment-friendly renewable energy.
The goal is to provide an adequate uninterrupted and grid independent power solution by 2025 while developing a green economy, added officials.
Ethiopia’s Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Energy said that it intended to expand the deployment of Tulip solar-hybrid systems for rural economic development to off-grid communities in select areas of the country.
