The administration's dedication to achieving inclusive development throughout the nation has been reiterated by President William Ruto.
During a development trip in Masalani town, Ijara Sub-County, the President promised the locals that national development plans will give equal consideration to northern Kenya.
He emphasized that his government is making significant investments in contemporary markets, affordable housing, electricity expansion, road infrastructure, and other crucial initiatives meant to improve all areas.
He claimed that the 50 megadams and a thousand other dams his administration plans to construct will be used for water harvesting, water storage, and the transformation of northern Kenya from a low-potential to a high-potential region.
"To assist irrigation, agricultural production, and climate resilience, the government will build over 1,000 minor dams and 50 mega dams nationwide. He stated that the purpose of these dams is to store water, harvest it, and transform northern Kenya from a low-potential to a high-potential region.
He revealed that when the High Grant Faults Dam in Ijara Sub-County is finished, it will be the biggest dam in Kenya. He stated that the government intends to use the new water infrastructure to assist irrigation on 300–400 acres of land in Ijara.
He reaffirmed that Kenya needs to make the most of its land resources in order to safeguard its food future, revealing that only 15% of the nation has been utilized for food production for many years.
We have barely utilized 15% of Kenya to promote food security for a very long time. In order to save and harvest water and utilize it for matter irrigation, it is necessary to extend it to the other 80% of Kenya that receives no rainfall, he stated.
He continued by saying that 1.5 million of the 2.5 million acres set aside for irrigation statewide will be found in northern Kenya and the coastal region, making this the biggest irrigation increase in the nation's history.
