Kenya is lighting up the nation like never before through its bold Last-Mile Connectivity Project, which is set to illuminate at least 12 million households by next year. Deputy President Kithure Kindiki announced that over 10 million homes are already glowing with power lighting, thanks to recent efforts that have connected 700,000 households in just two years. This expansion of electricity access is bringing new light and life to communities, creating safer, more productive, and brighter environments for families across the country.
The Deputy President emphasized the government's unwavering commitment to seeing the project succeed, especially as new partners join in to help spread the light even further. With a goal to add one million more households between 2025 and 2026. Kenya is not only expanding the grid but it is also brightening the future. Kindiki also highlighted ongoing work to strengthen power generation and transmission, ensuring that the lights stay on for both homes and businesses.
As President William Ruto heads to the Mission 300 African Energy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, Kenya’s progress serves as a beacon of inspiration. This aims to connect 300 million Africans to electricity by 2030. The focus is on delivering affordable and sustainable lighting to lift people out of darkness and into opportunity.
Lighting up households is about more than just power because it’s about unlocking potential. In every newly connected home, children now read under bright bulbs, small businesses stay open past sunset, and streets become safer with every lamp that flickers on. Through the Last-Mile Connectivity Project, Kenya is casting a powerful light on the path to progress, showing the world how electricity power lights can brighten lives and empower entire communities.
