Posted on : Tuesday , 1st April 2025

Marula Mining PLC, a mining and development firm with an African focus, is happy to report that the board of the firm has approved the five-year budget for the operation of the Kilifi Manganese Processing Plant, which is situated in Kenya's Kilifi County's Tezo Area. Following the recently signed 5-year Agency Framework Contract with Baosteel Resources South Africa (Pty) Ltd, the 5-year budget has been approved. As announced on March 4, 2025, for the acquisition and sale of manganese from the Kilifi Plant, and on March 24, 2025, for the export logistics arrangement with Scan Global Logistics Kenya Limited for the transportation and export of manganese ore. Additionally, it comes after three agreements to supply the Kilifi Plant with manganese ore totalling up to 20,000 tonnes per month were signed.

Currently, the company owns 80% of the Kilifi Plant through Muchai Mining and Processing Kilifi Pty Limited, a subsidiary. The approval of this 5-year budget for the Kilifi Manganese Processing Plant is a significant step forward for the company and was done to enable the board and executive management to accurately evaluate the economic contribution that is anticipated to be made over the term of the recently signed agency framework contract with Baosteel Resources, stated Jason Brewer, CEO of Marula Mining. Following an extensive assessment of the planned operations by the company's financial and technical teams as well as executive management, the 5-Year Budget has been developed concurrently with the ongoing and soon-to-be-completed operational activities and plant modifications at the Kilifi Plant.

In recent weeks and months, the company has concluded a number of important agreements and contracts that have given it more financial certainty when estimating the expected economic performance of the planned operations. This is in addition to the Kilifi Plant's on-site development, which has given the company's executive management assurance that it will be able to meet the first 5,000t of manganese deliveries under the agency framework with Baosteel Resources and start processing operations on schedule in April 2025. They anticipate giving further information soon regarding the development and operations at the Kilifi Plant.
