After the groundbreaking ceremony for the new five-story Kegonga Hospital in Kuria East Sub County, Migori County will soon have a second level four hospital facility.
Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, who oversaw the event at the Kegonga Sub County Hospital, recognised that the project's 300 beds would be a major step towards improving healthcare infrastructure and guaranteeing Kuria locals improved access to healthcare.
Improving health access in Migori will be greatly aided by the project funded by the Ministry of Health.
Ochilo praised the work and thanked Kitayama Maisori, the Kuria East Member of Parliament, for his persistent efforts to secure development projects for his constituency.
According to the governor, he will keep working with the federal government to improve healthcare delivery by making investments in state-of-the-art institutions and increasing access to high-quality medical treatment.
"Once the project is finished, it will significantly improve service delivery, ease patient traffic and improve health care outcomes in the area," Ochilo said.
He revealed that by hiring skilled professionals and specialists, his administration was committed to delivering first-rate healthcare services. To enhance service delivery throughout the county's 167 healthcare facilities, the county hired 80 medics in December 2024.
Ochilo clarified, "As we proceed, we will make sure the hospital is fully staffed and equipped to provide better service delivery to our county residents."
According to Kitayama Maisori, a member of parliament for Kuria East, a socio-economic transformative agenda can only be fulfilled via cooperation with both levels of government and excellent governance.
According to Kitayama, he will keep pushing for county growth to guarantee that the Migori community gains the most from it.
However, in order to obtain better health care services, the legislature encouraged Kuria citizens to sign up for the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF).
