JKCI Unveils Expanded Medical Tourism Strategy

The Jakaya Kikwete Cardiac Institute (JKCI) has made remarkable progress in advancing medical tourism in response to the rise in international patient volume during the first quarter of this year.

The institute reports that JKCI admitted roughly 80 international patients from various African nations in the first quarter of 2024.

Prior to this, though, the hospital would admit anywhere from 15 to 25 foreign patients at a time.

The government's investment in the health sector is paying off, according to JKCI Director Dr. Peter Kisenge, and more success is anticipated soon.

Speaking to press about the Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan Outreach Services, which are scheduled for next week in Namtumbo District, Ruvuma Region, was Dr. Kisenge.

According to the head of JKCI, the government's investment in enhancing the institute's specialized and superspecialized health services is what's responsible for the rise in the number of international patients.

Dr. Kisenge went on to say that the international patients were arriving from fifteen African nations, including Rwanda, Malawi, Zambia, Comoros, and many more.

According to Dr. Kisenge, visitors experiencing heart attacks while in the nation were formerly transported by air to neighboring nations like South Africa and Kenya for medical attention; however, these days, they are brought to JKCI. Dr. Kisenge emphasized, "This is an indication that JKCI is now a globally trusted institution."

"This will even increase the scope for tourists to visit Tanzania," he continued, "because JKCI has become a solution and an answer for tourists who visit our country. Health is the number one security for tourists, especially the elderly."

He further stated that individuals with heart problems will receive treated right away or be referred to JKCI in Dar es Salaam.

The activity will take place in the Namtumbo District Hospital in the Ruvuma Region as well as the two health centers in Lusewa and Mputa, according to Namtumbo legislator Mr. Vita Kawawa.

Accordingly, the MP urged Namtumbo locals to attend medical check-ups in large numbers.
