  • Kenya to acquire vital equipment to aid fight against cancer, First Lady told

     The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced on Friday that they have secured some funding from America to enable Kenya acquire vital equipment needed to fight cancer.

     
    The subsidised machines will be acquired through a cost-sharing arrangement between IAEA and Kenya and are expected to go a long way in the management of various forms of the disease . . .

     Kenya has pledged approximately Sh500 million ($5 million) donation to the Global Fund to fight HIV, TB and Malaria, DP Ruto said Friday.

  • State pledges free medical cover for Kenya's elderly from age 55 and above

     All Kenyans aged 55 and above will be put on free medical insurance cover, Deputy President William Ruto said.

     
    The DP also said all babies delivered in hospitals will enjoy free medical cover for one year in a move aimed at  reducing post-natal deaths in the first phase of a programme by the government to offer free medical services for all.

  • Students promote oral health to homeless

     A student at the University of Glasgow’s Dental School has created a society encouraging the city’s homeless to care for their teeth.

     
    Claudia Wasige, 22, who is originally from Kenya, was first inspired to help vulnerable communities after visiting the Everlasting Food Bank, in Dennistoun, east Glasgow, with her church in 2013.
