Exhibition Cargo & Customs Information

Please note that the organizers are not responsible for exhibition cargo. The following information is provided solely for your assistance. You may choose to work directly with the listed agents or with your regular freight forwarder who has a partner in Tanzania.
Important Considerations for Your Cargo:

  - Small Samples: For non-bulky samples, we recommend carrying them as personal baggage. This can be more cost-effective than shipping via air or sea freight, often saving you money on excess baggage fees.

- Pre-Shipment Consultation: Before shipping or air freighting your goods, all exhibitors must send a sample invoice and packing list to the clearing agents via email or fax. This allows them to provide you with an approximate value of all associated charges and advise on declared values.

- Required Documentation: It is essential to contact the clearing agents directly for a comprehensive list of all required documents.
This may include, but is not limited to:
    - Commercial Invoice
- Packing List
- Certificate of Origin
- Specific certificates for food, medical products, restricted items, and prohibited goods.

- Payment for Cargo Charges: All cargo charges must be paid directly to the clearing agents, either via telegraphic transfer or in cash, in Dar es Salaam, prior to the release of your goods. Goods are typically delivered directly to your exhibition stand unless otherwise arranged.

- Invoice Valuation: Please ensure that goods are not significantly under-invoiced. Customs authorities may apply their own valuation if they deem the declared invoice value unsatisfactory. We advise consulting with the clearing agents for guidance on appropriate valuations if needed.

- Promotional Materials: For promotional items such as brochures, small giveaways, and display stands, we recommend declaring a nominal value.

- Shipping Deadlines: To ensure timely customs clearance, all goods should arrive at the port at least 15 days and at the airport at least 10 days prior to the exhibition's opening date.

- Separate Packing & Declaration: Exhibition samples and stand construction materials should be packed and declared separately from goods intended for test sales.

- Emergency Hand Baggage: We strongly advise all exhibitors to carry essential items like brochures, business cards, and small posters in their hand baggage. This ensures you have materials available at your stand even if your main cargo or personal baggage is delayed or lost, safeguarding your investment.
Duties and Taxes:
Please be aware that Expogroup will not cover any duties or taxes declared for your goods. All duties and taxes are determined by the Government and are non-negotiable.

Customs/Cargo Clearance Letter:
In case a clearance letter is required from the organizer, Expogroup will issue the same upon request.
