  • Ghana: Investors in Mining Sector Return 77 Percent Profit to Ghana

    Mr. Sulemanu Koney, Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, says contrary to popular opinion, the mining industry returns a large proportion of its revenue to the Ghanaian economy.

     
    He said, in 2014, for instance, the industry returned approximately 77 per cent of its revenue to the country, with a large part of the remainder used for capital expenditu. . .

  • Government bans issuance of mining licences to minors

    The Ministry of Energy and Minerals has warned that children under 18 years are not allowed to be registered as shareholders when applying for mining licences.

    An official of the ministry, Ms Nuru Shabani, sounded the warning here during a training for small-scale and artisanal miners on the newly introduced Online Mining Cadastre Transactional Portal (OMCTP).
