The Ministry of Minerals has started a bold campaign to establish the nation as the top mining destination in Africa. Her Excellency President Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan launched this program in recognition of Tanzania's status as one of Africa's most resource-rich countries, with a wealth of industrial, rare earth, precious metal, energy, and essential minerals. Tanzania's mining government has a bold plan to promote investment, economic expansion, value addition, and ethical and sustainable mining methods. "Our vision isn't simply to dig up minerals, it's to ignite the engines of prosperity," said Minister Mavunde.
The African story of mining that is cloaked in exploitation, environmental damage, and secrecy is disintegrating for Tanzania. Tanzania is rewriting history by taking innovative action and providing game-changing collaborations, not by making hollow promises. Tanzania's mining roadmap for the future will be determined by strategic and long-term collaborations. In 2023, according to Mahimbali, the mining sector contributed to around 10% of our GDP, generating nearly 60% of the country's foreign exchange, with responsible practices attracting over USD 2 billion in new investments, led by global mining companies.
In the next two to three years, Tanzania is expected to make more than USSI billion in new commitments, covering important and rare earth minerals including graphite, lithium, nickel, neodymium, and others as it begins to beneficiate its mineral reserves. Tanzania has one of Africa's most attractive mining investment environments, with enticing legal, regulatory, and fiscal frameworks that are among the most supportive and competitive of any mining destination with solid political stability supported by long-standing democratic institutions and procedures, the nation is also among the most tranquil on the continent. Tanzanian mining is now establishing a vital mineral policy, the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa, which will guarantee supply resilience and dependability, encourage exploration, production, and innovation, and support sustainable and ethical practices.
