Kenya Based Medical Firm Exports Medical Supplies to Tanzania

A medical equipment manufacturing business headquartered in Kilifi has secured a contract to deliver medical equipment to Tanzania.

Tanzania has bought 11 million Covid-19 vaccination syringes from Revital Healthcare EPZ Ltd, which has ordered the 2ml, 5ml, and 10ml vaccine syringes.

This comes on the heels of Kenya and Tanzania's improved relationship since President Samia Suluhu entered office in March of this year.

Since Suluhu's formal state visit to Kenya in May, Revital Healthcare sales and market product development director Roneek Vora has claimed that the Tanzanian market is now opening up.

“The Tanzanian market is beginning to open up. We've been getting a lot of requests for the Covid-19 test kits that we make. We met with one of my Tanzanian suppliers, who is now interested in putting orders for the Covid test kits, PPEs, surgical face masks, and other kits that we manufacture,” Vora explained.

Revital Healthcare EPZ is Africa's sole manufacturer of Covid test kits and one of just 66 manufacturers worldwide to be USFDA (United States Food and Drug Administration) certified.

Among other things, the company makes surgical face masks and Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs). The Covid-19 antigen rapid diagnostic test kits are their most recent offering.

Simultaneously, Revital Healthcare dispatched two shipments of two million 1ml conventional vaccination syringes to three European countries: Germany, Switzerland, and Austria. KAJ Medical is the company that hired Revital Healthcare to provide the goods.

“This is the first time in history that the nation, and especially Revital, has exported vaccine syringes to Europe,” Vora explained. The Kilifi company has also sold the syringes to other African nations such as Uganda, Malawi, Eritrea, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

“The Ugandan government granted us a contract to export 13.5 million 1ml conventional immunisation syringes. We have done two shipments this month alone. About four million vaccination syringes have already been sent to Uganda," Vora stated.

“We did supplies for UNICEF, WHO, and CHMP through WHO this month. And all of these syringes are being transferred to the COVAX facility, from where they will be distributed to other places throughout the world,” Vora explained..

The company then intends to collaborate with the Kenya Airports Authority and other authorities to test each passenger entering the nation through the border points.
