$100k Raised in Integrity's Latest Run for Kenya

Posted on :Friday , 29th September 2017

Integrity Worldwide’s Run for Kenya has managed to raised $100,000 in its most recent run from the humble beginnings of a few thousands during its initial years.

Integrity was founded by Averee Hicks and her spouse Alan Hicks with a goal to bring clean drinking water to the village of Meto.

“We planned to do it for one year and make a couple thousand of dollars. We are now on target to raise maybe $100,000,” Averee said.

This year’s proceeds are intended to go to the hiring of  a part –time dentist , a part time physician and a full time nurse, alongside an administrator and a well equipped medical and dental centre, according to Averee.

Dr. Steven Bobo and his wife Caroline from Birmingham England, were this year’s main sponsors for the race. The couple are known to have worked in collaboration with the foundation 4four years prior.

The Hicks were mentors to a young Caroline, during their youth.

“When I was 18 Big Alan told me, ‘Caroline, someday you are going to Africa with us,’” Caroline said. “It was prophetic. We did end up going.”

The winners medals for the race, too were crafted by a woman in Meto.

Hicks said “They prayed for each person as they made them,”

Tony Johnson finished firstin the 10K race and finished with a time of 39:21, while Jejuan Mauldin claimed the first prize in the 5K with a time of 19:46.
