Thanks to a water project established by County Woman Representative Donya Aburi and Kitutu Chache South Constituency MP Antony Kibagendi, thousands of households and students in Kisii County's periphery stand to benefit.
The Daraja Mbili elementary and secondary schools, the nearby market that serves the surrounding counties, the local dispensary, the butcher, and the locals will all benefit from the water project, which consists of a borehole and water tower for the storage of the commodity.
As he broke ground on the water project at Kitutu Central Ward's Daraja Mbili Secondary School, Aburi mentioned that the project will benefit vegetable producers by providing them with a year-round supply of the crop.
Aburi stated that the project, along with five other programs aimed at other areas of the county, will assist in eliminating the custom of begging for vegetables from other regions when the area's rains have stopped.
The initiative was praised by MP Kibagendi, who said it would significantly improve the general health of the community, particularly when a clean slaughterhouse was guaranteed.
In addition, he promised to ensure that engineers erect water kiosks so that nearby households can collect the resource, as well as to provide an unspecified sum from the County Development Fund pocket to the project.
Assistant Chief Brian Onditi of the Daraja Mbili sub site sternly warned vandals who would target the solar panels for the project's energy supply. He said that the metallic and plastic pipes would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
