Posted on :Friday , 8th July 2016

The government plans to introduce a bulk supply system in the gas come September. Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (Ewura) officials said on Wednesday that the move aims at reducing business costs and power tariffs for consumers, increase government revenue and control the gas sector more efficiently.

Ewura petroleum department director Samuel Godwin speaking at a one-day workshop for stakeholders in the petroleum industry held here said the government would review the current bulk supply systems in jet oil, petrol, diesel and kerosene.

The Tanzania Petroleum Stations Owners Association (Taposa) secretary in the Lake Zone regions, Mr Ahamed Misanga, promised that the association will work closely with the government to improve and ensure fair competition in petrol and gas sector.

"This can only be achieved through education and awareness on the oil and gas industry. Seminars like this one remind all stakeholders to comply with the laws, rules and regulations governing the sector," Mr Misanga said.

Mwanza regional trade and business officer Christina Owenya urged players in the oil and gas industry to use their association to check members who violate rules and regulations.
