Major gas discoveries in Tanzania and prospects for oil find will be among topics for discussion during the fourth East African Oil and Gas Summit slated for February 10 to 12 in Nairobi.
Also on agenda is the recent discover of over 100 metres of net oil play in northern Kenya by Tullow Oil and its partner Africa Oil Corp. The oil find at Etom-2 well near Lake Turkana has been viewed as the best quality discovery in the region to date.
The summit is being held on the heels of last year's one which attracted over 2,300 participants from 380 companies around the world which, according to its organisers, gained invaluable insight into the projects and latest opportunities in the region.
"This annual summit has proven to be the most productive regional event in East Africa bringing together key decision makers in government, industry, civil society and wider stakeholders who are able to discuss, and act on, the key opportunities and challenges faced by the industry and its host countries," said Mr Alex Budden, Africa Oil Corp's vice president of external relations.
