Ethiopia’s national flag carrier, Ethiopian Airlines, partnered with United Arab Emirates (UAE) based hospital, Ras Al-Khaimah (RAK) Hospital. The partnership is to facilitate specialized treatments and health checks for medical tourists from the African continent.
The package to be offered as per the deal will include, in addition to other things; medical treatments, arrangement of visas, airports transfers, travel guide and sightseeing, complementary spa services at the hospital premises and hotel stay.
In order to further coordinate and provide medical, logistical and recreational support to clients, the hospital has also opened a support office in the capital of Ethiopia.
Commenting on the development, Raza Siddiqui, Arabian Healthcare Group CEO and Executive Director of RAK Hospital, said the hospital’s partnership with Ethiopian would provide huge service to African medical tourists in addition to boosting UAE’s healthcare sector. The partnership would enable medical tourists get the necessary treatment without difficulty, Raza furthered.
The CEO also noted the arrangement not only eases medical tourism between the two countries but also takes an important burden off the patient’s mind who may not want to deal with mundane travel details. “Such tie-ups with airlines also ensure that the packages remain cost-effective for the patients with very little effort on their part,'' he furthered.
In addition to its representative office in Addis Ababa, RAK Hospital has more in Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Oman and Afghanistan.
