Intravenous fluids plant opened in Sudan

A $25 million intravenous fluids plant was officially opened this month in Sudan by Vice President Hassabo Mohamed Abdul-Rahman.

 
The plant, which has been ready for production for the past seven years, had faced operational delays owing to differences with the Malaysian partner and has capacity to produce 8 million units of intravenous fluids and 700,000 units of solutions for kidney dialysis.
 
Sudan Vision Daily reported Abdul-Rahman called for the setting-up of a committee to follow-up on industrial investments in the medical field in Sudan and to remove all obstacles. He called on the National Investment Council to double efforts to attract investments in the sector.
 
According to the Sudan’s State Minister for Industry, imports of intravenous fluids amount to $14 million per year.
 
The company is also expected launch a second production line soon.
