The Cabinet Secretary for Health Dr. Cleopa Mailu today held bilateral talks with the Dutch Ambassador Fran’s Makken to cultivate the use of Health Information Technology tools to improve the quality and efficiency of the delivery of health care in the country.

The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr. Alec C. Behrens, CEO of MDLinking the innovators of Virtual Reality experience for Doctors using a mobile based platform to provide health care.

The MDLinking intends to pilot the project in the country as well as partner with the Ministry of Health to introduce the telemedicine platform to the medical fraternity at a forum to be convened later this year.

The CS lauded the Dutch Government for supporting the health sector to improve infrastructure in the Level 5 Hospitals under the successfully concluded ORET Project, besides provision of innovative incubator for premature babies through Philips.

The Dutch Ambassador noted that a study commissioned by the embassy on market opportunities has revealed a great market for investment in the Kenyan health sector.

He noted that a high level round table meeting will be convened in September 2016 to explore the findings of the study with a view of establishing mutually beneficial collaborations between the Dutch and Kenyan private sector.
