TOP United Nations Body APPLAUDS ODM’s Garissa Governor Jama’s administration SUCCESS on health and child care services.

 Garissa Deputy Governor Abdullahi Hussein hosted a large delegation from Kenya Unicef office led by unicef Kenya representative Mr. Werner schultink in order to familiarize and oversee devolution functions at county level.

 
Mr werner and his delegation presented the Deputy Governor an overview of the zonal office programs and coverage that the unicef have carried out within Garissa county during the last three years of devolution, and as well thank the county government of Garissa the exemplary performance on health care and referral services.
Speaking after he handed over furnitures and recreational items to the newly established child friendly center that was constructed by the county government early this year, Mr Werner said the county did a greater stride by creating such special facilities that safeguards and protects children.
 
“Am thrilled to see Garissa county managed to have children protection unit center that provides counseling ,legal aid and referral medical services to children who are in contact with the law” Werner said
 
Deputy Governor Abdullahi thanked the organization for the their unending support to the county, especially in health centers by supporting primary health facilities and community units and as well equipped the two maternity units built in Garissa town.
 
“As a county we are gratified the supports our partners specially unicef are given us in order strengthening our devolution journey ,the organization supported widely our (MNCH) and nutrition services and other medical related support that enhanced our health service delivery across our county” Abdullahi said.
 
Garissa referral hospital also host maternal shelter in order to accommodate nomadic high risk pregnancy women to access specialized care the initiative that was supported by Unicef as well.
 
On her part , County Executive committee in charge of gender ,culture and children affairs Mrs. Halima hajji Mohamed commended the support her ministry received from unicef in making sure the child protection unit achieved its core mandate of delivering services to resident .
“I can guarantee this is just home away from home! Together with our partners like unicef we endeavor to progress on health care, nutrition, education and protection to children in urgent need, while working with national governments to ensure we deliver our promise of protect and promote the rights of every child in this county” Halima said
