Tanzania: Dodoma to Get Maize Milling Plant

 Dodoma — Dodoma Region will soon get an ultra modern factory for maize milling and oil which will employ 250 workers.

 
In his remarks while handing over a cheque for about 3.7 bn/- for the said factory, the Director General of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Professor Godius Kahyarara, said the plant will be a blessing to the people and farmers as it will be using raw materials obtained locally.
 
The money is intended for the purchase of grain and sunflower milling machines. Presenting the cheque to the Director of Cereals and other Produce Board of Tanzania , John Maige , he urged, owners to ensure that the factory flourishes and utilizes fully the market inside the country and outside.
 
Furthermore professor Kahyarara said the funds go hand in hand with the investment policy of the Fund to ensure members' contributions are safely invested in productive projects. He said the industrial policy of the Fund is to involve itself in industries with a net result of helping the people.
 
The guest of honor at the handover event, Deputy Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office (Labour, Youths and Employment), Antony Mavunde, said the factory will produce many jobs and the economy of farmers will change and grow.
 
Cereals and other Produce Board of Tanzania Director John Maige said his board in conjunction with NSSF will implement the project where the factory will be able to grind 60 tonnes of corn per day and a further 13 tones of oil seeds per day.
 
Maige said the establishment of the plant is the result of the implementation of the government policy aimed at lifting the economy of the country. Meanwhile Director of legal services Geoffrey Dimoso at the Azania Bank said the bank is partnering with the government to ensure farmers achieve the highest degree of economic opportunities.
