Tanzania: District Council Allocates Sh80 Million for Agriculture

Kilosa — Kilosa district council has allocated Sh80 million for the purchase of farm inputs for the coming agricultural season.

 
Speaking to more than 200 farmers gathered at Mhenda village in the district, the Kilosa district commissioner, John Henjewele called on farmers to make good use of the research done by experts from Ilonga Agricultural Research Institute for the agriculture to be productive.
 
"If you follow what experts have said, then be assured of having enough produce and increased income," he told farmers.
 
Farmers from Ilakala, Nyalanda villages gathered at Mhenda village at farmers' day to be shown various technologies produced by Simlesa project which aims at empowering farmers to increase production of crops and income using mixed farming system of maize and cow peas under agricultural conservation and use of fertiliser.
 
"We have allocated the fund to support efforts of researchers whom in modern agriculture they are necessitated to use fertilizer which is one of the farm input to ensure produce have needed quality," said the DC.
