Mozambique to Expand Gas Pipeline to SA

Kenya: AfDB Gives Kenya U.S.$39.5 Million for Irrigation Projects

Kenya has received $39.55 million from the African Development Bank (AfDB) to support small-scale irrigation projects, expected to improve yields, incomes and nutrition in rural areas.   AfDB's agriculture and agro-industry director Chiji Ojukwu said the funding would help reduce poverty by enhancing agricultural productivity.   "The programme is aligned with Kenya's Medium Term Plan (MTP-II 2013-17) to modernise its agriculture as well as promote improved household.... Tanzania: Government in New Plan to Boost Productivity in Farming

Ministry of Minerals Signs Three Agreements to Explore Gold in Some States

Dabaa power plant in Africa to generate electricity in 2024

Egypt will get the first electricity supply from Dabaa nuclear power plant in 2024, the country’s prime minister Sherif Ismail has announced. He said that that the plant will run under acceptable environmental safety standards. He added that Dabaa residents will be relocated. The announcement comes following an agreement that was signed on November between Russia’s state-owned nuclear firm Rosatom and Egypt on 19 November. The agreement was for the collaboration.... Safaricom in Kenya Ties in MTN Rwanda

Nairobi — Safaricom has partnered with MTN Rwanda to offer mobile money transaction for M-PESA customers in Kenya and Rwanda.   The partnership will see customers send and receive money from both countries through Mpesa platform.   This is the second partnership of its nature this year, after Safaricom partnered with Vodacom Tanzania to introduce cross-border transaction between customers on the respective networks.   The move, according to Safaricom.... Rio Tinto Approves $1,9bn Bauxite Mine

Rio Tinto has given a go-ahead to a $1,9 billion project to build an Australian bauxite mine, defying a deepening commodities downturn.
