Tanzania Launches an Electric Reach Stacker Built in China

A Chinese-made electric reach stacker was officially handed over in Dar es Salaam on Monday, marking its first entry into the Tanzanian market and the operational launch of this new-energy logistics equipment in the country.

The equipment has been purchased by Azam Inland Container Depot, a subsidiary of Bakhresa Group. The Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Ali Mukadam, said the investment demonstrates the company’s commitment to operational efficiency and sustainable business growth.

He noted that by embracing green technology, the company aims to improve productivity and workplace safety while lowering emissions and reducing energy consumption.

Speaking during the launch event in Dar es Salaam, Li Yu, General Manager for the African region at Guangxi LiuGong Machinery, described the introduction of the electric reach stacker as an important milestone in promoting greener and smarter logistics solutions across Africa.

Li added that the company has already introduced electric excavators, wheel loaders, and mining trucks in Africa, supporting the continent’s transition towards low-carbon development.

Jackline Wikechi, an environmental management officer at the National Environment Management Council, said the Tanzanian government continues to support the growth of green and low-carbon technologies, welcoming more advanced electric equipment into the local market to drive sustainable development.
