TISEZA Unveils Four New Special Economic Zones as Q4 2025 Investments Double to $3.16 Billion

Posted on : Wednesday , 1st July 2026

The Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority registered 278 projects worth USD 3.16 billion in Q4 2025, more than double the USD 1.57 billion recorded the previous year, with 71,412 employment predicted and China dominating foreign direct investment at USD 950 million. The bulletin also establishes four Special Economic Zones in Bagamoyo, Kibaha, Dodoma, and Kahama, totalling over 2,100 hectares, as well as two Dar es Salaam public-private partnership projects for a total of TZS 182 billion, for investors in manufacturing, agro-processing, mining and real estate.

According to the TISEZA bulletin, the manufacturing sector dominated the quarter with 135 registered projects bringing in over USD 1.13 billion in capital, closely followed by the tourism and transportation sectors. Geographically, Dar es Salaam and the Pwani Region attracted the lion's share of investments, with Pwani alone accounting for a staggering 47,093 projected jobs due to its booming industrial and special economic zone activities. While China firmly established itself as the leading source of Foreign Direct Investment, domestic capital experienced a phenomenal surge of 279% year-on-year to hit USD 1.74 billion. This massive influx of local funding positioned domestic investors as the single largest contributor to Tanzania's historic quarterly investment boom.

The Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA) filed 278 investment projects totalling US$3.16 billion in the fourth quarter of 2025, more than doubling investment value from the same quarter the previous year and projecting 71,412 jobs. TISEZA has recently released its Quarterly Investment Bulletin for October to December 2025, which covers results under the General Investment Scheme, Export Processing Zones (EPZs), and Special Economic Zones (SEZs). The bulletin also lists nine outbound investor missions, eleven incoming delegations, four SEZs actively seeking investors, and two public-private partnership projects that are ready for funding.
