Burkina Faso launches a new EV brand entering the African EV market

Posted on : Thursday , 6th February 2025

Africa's electric vehicle (EV) market is growing more competitive as a number of nations make notable adoption progress.

Burkina Faso's homegrown electric car, ITAOUA, just made its debut, enhancing the continent's EV scene even further.

The company claims that the ITAOUA EV has remarkable qualities, including a 330-kilometer range on a single charge that can be completed in 30 minutes.

The ITAOUA is positioned as a formidable competitor in Africa's quickly changing electric transportation sector because to its exceptional efficiency.

Sputnik Afrique claims that this cutting-edge car provides a solar-powered, all-electric, and environmentally friendly mode of transportation and is expected to make a substantial contribution to the expanding electric vehicle sector on the continent.

According to Mordor Intelligence, the electric vehicle (EV) industry in Africa is expected to grow rapidly, reaching a value of 15.8 billion USD in 2024 and 25.4 billion USD by 2029.

Even though the US, Europe, and China will account for 95% of worldwide EV sales in 2023, a number of African nations are making significant progress in EV adoption.

In a major step toward the nation's shift to sustainable mobility, Botswana recently unveiled its first locally built electric cars in Gaborone.
