Yutong, a Chinese producer of commercial vehicles, is presently examining Tanzania's market in order to determine whether to establish an assembly manufacturing plant there. This comes after the market has shown encouraging tendencies since it entered the nation.
Kellen Zou, the CEO of Yutong Bus Tanzania, made this statement at the opening of the business's new headquarters and service facility for Yutong buses.
He claims that Yutong can take advantage of the bright prospects presented by the rapidly expanding Tanzanian and East African markets as it works to bolster its position in the area.
"We have been in the country for three years, when we first launched our services, we are now analyzing the market to determine whether we can start assembling our vehicles," he stated.
He mentioned how they began in a little capacity and have grown to be a major force in the nation.
He gave an explanation, stating that the new service facility is anticipated to improve car maintenance and repair services, resolving the issues that bus owners faced in the past when they had to rely on nearby mechanics or go to other nations for repairs.
"The centre will not only provide critical services but also offer training for local drivers, creating a mutually beneficial situation and transforming the industry," he stated.
He pointed out that Tanzania has demonstrated significant potential for further expansion and is a vital market for the East African Community (EAC).
The Tanzania Bus Owners Association (TABOA) Chairperson, Issah Nkya, praised the decision and pointed out the center's involvement in alleviating the problems encountered by bus owners who had to send their vehicles abroad for maintenance or rely on unreliable mechanics in the past.
"Bus owners are now assured of quality maintenance of their vehicles here in the country," he stated.
