Rwandan Government and ARC Power Announce Historic Partnership

Posted on : Thursday , 4th July 2024

A significant Strategic Power Partnership has been established between the Government of Rwanda and ARC Power, a prominent renewable energy developer in the United Kingdom. By creating grid extensions and distributing grid-tied solar generating units, or ARCs, throughout Rwanda, this historic partnership seeks to greatly improve the country's energy accessibility. As a result of the project, Rwanda's clean energy mix will be greatly increased and at least 40,000 homes, businesses, and schools will receive electricity for the first time.

Both ARC Power and the Rwandan government are at a crossroads with the Strategic Power Partnership. With the support of the Rwandan government's commitment to sustainability and ARC Power's experience in renewable energy, the cooperation seeks to transform the energy sector in Africa and expedite energy access.

In accordance with the agreement, ARC Power and the Rwanda Energy Group will collaborate closely to identify key sites for grid extensions and solar unit installation. By using Rwanda's vast solar resources, these units will provide clean, dependable electricity that will provide power to at least 400,000 people for the first time. Both economic growth and quality of life will be enhanced by this endeavour.

ARC Power's CEO, Karl Boyce, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, saying, "We are excited to work with the Government of Rwanda on this extraordinary project. This collaboration exemplifies our common goal of fostering change and advancing environmentally friendly energy options. Together, we hope to revolutionize the African energy landscape and provide a template for other countries to aspire to.

The CEO of Rwanda Energy Group offered additional insight into the partnership, highlighting the Strategic Power Partnership's capacity to fundamentally alter the nation's energy environment.

The partnership seeks to promote the use of renewable energy, decrease greenhouse gas emissions, and increase access to power in order to accelerate sustainable development and promote economic success for all Rwandans. By working together, ARC Power and the Rwandan government are demonstrating their commitment to tackling the urgent energy issues that the continent is currently experiencing.
