Posted on : Friday , 6th October 2017

Dubai is looking to attract more medicals tourists from China, Russia, Kenya, and Tanzania.

A dedicated team has been put in place consisting of members of the Dubai Health Authority and Dubai Medical Tourism Council alongside doctors from the Canadian Specialist Hospital to discuss strategies to make patients more open to visiting Dubai to meet their medical needs.

The Canadian Specialist Hospital in Dubai is equipped with an international patient center and has been promoting medical tourism since back in 2006, according to a report from the International Medical Travel Journal.

Clinics and Hospitals have been called on to co-operate with the hospitality, tourism and aviation sectors on a global scale to promote this cause. Attention to finer details like local travel agents, hotels, and passenger airlines have also been encouraged.

Medical tourism in Dubai yielded around AED 1.42 billion (The US $390 million) in 2016, which was a slight improvement on 2015’s record of AED 1.40 billion. These latest measures are expected to improve these number greatly in the coming years.
