Tanzania: Magufuli Inaugurates Fruit Processing Plant

 President John Magufuli today inaugurated Bakhresa Food Products Ltd (BFPL) fruits and vegetables processing plant in Mwandege, Mkuranga, Coast Region.

 
The state-of-the-art plant has the capacity to process 350 tonnes of fruits and vegetables daily. The president inaugurated the mangoes processing division, which is the second phase. The first phase produces soft drinks Azam Cola.
 
The fruit juices processing plant is the first indigenous aseptic packing facility for fruit juices in the country with the capacity of packing 41 million liters per annum. The fruit pulp produced is packed in aseptic bags of 210 liters, which is further packed in a drum.
 
The product range includes Apples, Azamto (Black currant fruit juice drink), Mango, Orange, Pineapple, Guava, Mango Orange Guava--mix fruits juice drink--and a blend of Apples and Black currant juice.
 
At BFPL, the choicest fruits are selected, inspected, sorted, washed and then taken to the ripening chambers where they are ripened in a uniform manner under controlled conditions to maintain the color, flavor and taste. Bakhresa Group now boasts of a turnover of more than 800 million US Dollars and employs more than 8,000 people.
