Kenya Pipeline Company has completed repairs on the pipeline leak on the Mombasa-Nairobi line at kilometer 25 near Mazeras. A statement from the company said the leak occurred due to ageing of the line related to a corrosion defect. Kenya Pipeline has already commenced an environmental remediation exercise to conserve the immediate environment where the leakage took place.
KPC also plans to conduct environmental audit and sampling in close consultation with the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and adds that the leak will not affect the country's supply of fuel.
