Japan and Kenya Set to Sign Investment Promotion Agreement

 As part of efforts to boost economic growth and strengthen bilateral ties, the Government of Japan and the Government of the Republic of Kenya will on August 28, 2016, sign an agreement for the promotion and protection of Investment between both countries,

 
 The agreement is scheduled to be signed by Mr. Fumio Kishida, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, and Mr. Henry K. Rotich, Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury of the Republic of Kenya, in Nairobi, Kenya, where the Sixth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD VI) will be held.
 
The agreement is to be signed after five rounds of negotiations. In June, 2013, the launch of a preparatory meeting for the initiation of negotiations on the bilateral investment agreement was confirmed at the meeting between Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, of Japan and Hon. William Arap Ruto, Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya, who was visiting Japan to attend the Fifth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD V).
