East Africa Business Council to Search for Investment in Northern Corridor

The East African Business Council will commission a study in January to identify investment opportunities on the Northern Corridor.
EABC acting executive director Lilian Awinja said this is part of the lobby group's effort to get the private sector to participate more in the Northern Corridor Infrastructure Projects initiative (NCIP).
"Our study will look at opportunities, magnitude of the projects, available incentives in different countries and under the NCIP initiative and the cost of the projects," she said.
The study is expected to establish the number of warehouses needed along the standard gauge railway (SGR) from Mombasa to Kigali and Juba and the cost implication. It will also identify the quantities of materials needed for the construction of the railway and their cost.
On the Eldoret-Kampala-Kigali, refined petroleum products pipeline extension, the study will pinpoint the opportunities for public-private-partnerships.
