Kenya: Migori Plan Sh40 Million Renovation Work At Stadium

 MIGORI County Government have announced plans to renovate the county stadium at a cost of Sh40 million. According to Governor Zachary Okoth Obado, the stadium will be used to boost young talent and enable the county have the best team in the region. The renovated stadium will accommodate volleyball, rugby, athletics, football, basketball and indoor games. "We are committed to talent nurturing and this can only happen when we have a place for youths to practice," he said.

On his part, County Director of Education, Sports and Culture, SilasJ onyo, said the upgrading of the stadium is part of the county's development plan to improve sporting facilities.

"We want to make sports more professional by improving the facility to enable this county get more sports people and activities within," he said. Jonyo called on the teams from Migori County to work hard and make sure they join other teams at higher levels of competitions.

"From this county we only have one representative, that is Sony FC in the Kenyan Premier League. We need more teams to be part of the major leagues in the nation and perform," he added. Jonyo also announced that the county government was keen to start more sports academies.
