Siemens to Submit Bid for Isaka-Kigali Railway Project

German heavyweights, Siemens are proactively seeking to make in investment in mobility construction that will be used to construct the long awaited Isaka-Kigali railway line. 
 
"We have the correct innovation for the rail framework and we are likewise mindful that the rail venture is searching for financing. This is one territory we are taking a gander at for conceivable venture," said Chief Executive Office of Siemens Belgium-Luxemburg, North-West-and Central Africa, Andre Bouffioux. 
 
A new agreement has also been finalized for the construction and co-finance of the 400km Isaka-Kigali Standard Gauge Railway (SGR). The first phase for the same will see construction begin in October this year. A five-man team has also been set out by Siemens and this team will seek to find new opportunities in the region. Siemens has many years of experience in working with local traders and are confident in their ability to deliver quality service. The company also has a reputation of investing heavily in Rail services, Automation, Electrification, complete rail solutions, components and systems in recent years.
 
According to internal sources, Siemens will discus the rendering of three key services technology investment, infrastructure, health and sustainable energy with the Government of Rwanda momentarily.
 
Of the key opportunities surveyed, Siemens hopes to strike a building technology deal with the private and the government likewise for the installation of energy saving equipment in multimillion structures like hotels. Siemens are also eyeing a role in the planned Bugesera International Airport.
 
“Our plan is to work with the private sector first, we have already received several deals from the local companies but we would like to work with government in a long term which requires a structural plan,” Bouffioux said during a press briefing in Kigali on Thursday.
With 26 established operations in Africa already, Bouffioux sees Rwanda as ideal for the German company’s cause and hopes to make Rwanda a key African investment expansion point.
