New Building Materials Manufacturing Unit in Kenya

Posted on :Thursday , 26th October 2017

Ceramic tiles, construction hardware, bathroom and kitchen appliances are among the products that will be manufactured at Kenya’s newest plant for building materials.

The project is headed by China Wu Yi. The firm is currently in the finishing stages of an upcoming precast building materials manufacturing unit in the Machakos County.

Executive Deputy General Manager China Wu Yi in Kenya, Yihua Lin reasoned the development of the plant on various factors. One is Kenya’s status as the economic hub of East Africa and also healthy bi-lateral relations between the East African nation and China.

This latest development will stem from a 30-acre property with a floor area of 75, 970 square meters. The project is expected to be completed by March of the next year.

The building will include an exhibition area, an office block and also a service block. A hotel and a building materials supermarket will also be a part of the construction.

The building materials to be at the supermarket are to be shipped directly from China. Most of the products, however, are expected to be produced domestically.

Also, the Athi River factory will manufacture precast components like wall panels. It will also have foundation piles, hollow core slabs, and staircases that will eventually be stocked at the supermarket.

It will cost approximately US$ 100m for the project to be complete.
